This is the guide we send to every first-time customer, rewritten for 2026 with what we have learned from more than ten years of delivering cleanses in Singapore. It covers what a juice cleanse is and is not, how to prepare, what each day actually feels like, what to do when you are hungry at 4pm, and how to come off it without undoing the work. It is written to be useful whether you buy from us or not.
What a juice cleanse is (and what it is not)
A juice cleanse is one to five days of drinking only fresh fruit and vegetable juice, usually six bottles a day at two to three hour intervals, with water and herbal tea in between. You take in a large amount of plant nutrients in a form that needs almost no digestion, at roughly half your normal calories, with no alcohol, caffeine, processed food, added sugar or salt.
It is not a detox in the sense of removing toxins. Your liver and kidneys do that continuously and do not need help from a bottle. What a cleanse does is give you a few days of very clean, very low-calorie, plant-heavy eating in a structured form that most people can actually complete, and that is more useful than it sounds. The benefits customers consistently report are less bloating, better sleep, clearer skin after a few days, a reset in sugar cravings, and a sense of control over their eating. The benefits you will not get are fat loss beyond about half a kilogram per three days, a cure for anything, or a licence to eat badly afterwards.
Who should and should not cleanse
A cleanse is for healthy adults. Do not do one if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, diabetic or on blood-sugar medication, under 18, recovering from illness or surgery, or have any history of disordered eating. If you have a medical condition or take regular medication, ask your doctor first. If you are sick when your cleanse arrives, postpone it; the juice keeps four days and your body needs calories to fight an infection.
Choosing the length and the menu
- Half-day or 1-day: the right first cleanse. You learn how you respond, it fits a workday, and the risk of quitting is low.
- 3-day: the standard, and what most of our customers choose. Long enough to get the full de-bloat and the palate reset.
- 5-day: for people who have done a 3-day before and have a specific reason. Beyond five days you lose muscle rather than fat and the hunger makes rebound eating likely; we do not sell longer cleanses and do not recommend them.
Menus differ by goal. Ours: Skinny is the lowest-calorie, green-heavy menu for de-bloating and weight goals; Vitality is more balanced with more fruit and roots for energy; Active adds protein-rich mylks for people who are training; the Half-Day is a lighter menu for a working day. If you are not sure, Skinny 1-day. Full comparison on the juice cleanse page. If you are comparing brands, our checklist for choosing a juice cleanse in Singapore covers price per bottle, HPP versus fresh, and ingredients.
How to prepare for a juice cleanse: the two days before
Preparation is the difference between a cleanse that feels fine and one that gives you a headache on day one. Two days is enough.
- Halve your caffeine. The day-one headache most people blame on “toxins” is caffeine withdrawal. Drop from two kopis to one, then to a tea, before you start. If you drink a lot of coffee, start this three or four days out.
- Stop alcohol, fried food and sugary drinks. Bubble tea, soft drinks, dessert, hawker fried food, late-night suppers. Two days without these makes the first juice day feel like a continuation rather than a cliff.
- Eat lighter, plant-heavy meals. Yong tau foo with extra vegetables, salads, soup, fish with greens. Smaller portions at dinner.
- Drink more water than usual. Two litres a day. Being well hydrated going in reduces the fatigue on day one.
- Clear the calendar. No client dinners, no birthdays, no travel. Friday to Sunday is the most common choice; a weekday one-day cleanse works well too if your week is quiet.
- Make fridge space. A three-day cleanse is 18 bottles plus ice packs. Clear a shelf.
What to eat before a juice cleanse: the night before
A light, early dinner. Steamed fish or tofu, lots of vegetables, a small portion of rice, no alcohol. Finish by 8pm so you start the cleanse after a long overnight gap, which makes the first juice land better. Do not “eat up” the night before; it makes day one harder, not easier.
What a cleanse day looks like
Our days run six 500ml bottles, in this order, with water or herbal tea between each:
- 8am: a nut mylk to start. It is the most filling bottle of the day, and starting with it means you are not hungry by 9.30am. On Skinny day one this is the Relaxing Coconut Mylk.
- 10am: a green juice. Romaine, celery, cucumber, parsley, lemon and ginger (Living Greens).
- 12pm: a lighter fruit-and-vegetable juice for the lunch slot (Summer Breeze).
- 4pm: an electrolyte juice built on coconut water, timed for the afternoon dip (Green Electrolytes).
- 6pm: a citrus juice with coconut water for vitamin C and hydration (Immunity Tonic).
- 8pm: a root juice to finish: beetroot, carrot, apple, celery (Sweet Earth). Sweeter and grounding, which is what you want last.
That is Skinny day one; each day and each cleanse varies, and the exact menu is on every product page under the Menu tab. Drink each bottle slowly over 15 to 20 minutes rather than in two gulps; it is more satisfying and easier on your stomach. Aim for two litres of water across the day on top of the juice.
What to expect, day by day
Day one is the hardest for most people, and the hardest part of day one is 4pm to 8pm. Expect mild hunger that comes in waves, possibly a headache if you did not taper caffeine, and more trips to the bathroom. Energy is usually fine in the morning and lower in the late afternoon. Go to bed early; you will sleep well.
Day two is the surprise. Hunger is noticeably less, energy is steadier, and most people feel lighter and less bloated by the evening. Some get a mild low mood or irritability in the afternoon; it passes.
Day three is usually the best day. Clear-headed, flat stomach, and sugar cravings quieter than they have been in months. This is also the day people decide to extend, which we would gently discourage on a first cleanse. Finish strong and break it properly.
How to feel less hungry on a juice cleanse
Hunger on a cleanse is real but mostly manageable, and it is rarely about nutrition in the first 24 hours. In order of what works:
- Drink water first. A large glass, wait ten minutes. Half of “hungry” is thirsty, especially in our climate.
- Move the next juice earlier. The schedule is a guide. If you are struggling at 3pm, drink the 4pm juice then and shift the rest.
- Herbal tea. Peppermint and ginger are the best for appetite. No milk, no sugar.
- Eat a small amount of raw vegetables if you need to. Cucumber, carrot or celery sticks, or a few raw almonds. This does not “break” the cleanse; it keeps you on it. We would rather you finish three days with a handful of carrot sticks than quit on day two.
- Keep busy and go to bed early. Boredom hunger is the worst kind. Evening is the danger zone, so plan a walk, a shower and an early night.
Exercise, work and daily life during a cleanse
Most of our customers cleanse on normal working days. Keep the bottles in the office fridge, set reminders, and tell colleagues so nobody puts a curry puff in front of you. For exercise, walking, yoga, pilates and easy cycling are fine and often feel good; skip HIIT, heavy lifting and long runs, since you are on roughly half your usual calories. More detail in exercising safely on a juice cleanse. No alcohol, no smoking if you can manage it, and no coffee; if you absolutely must, a small black coffee or green tea in the morning is better than quitting the cleanse.
How to break a juice cleanse: the three days after
This is the part most guides skip and the part that decides whether the cleanse was worth it. Your stomach has been handling liquid for days; your palate has reset. Come back slowly and you keep both benefits.
- Day after, morning: fruit, or a juice if you have one left. Then a small bowl of oats or a smoothie.
- Day after, lunch and dinner: vegetables and soup. Steamed, stir-fried with little oil, or raw. A small portion of tofu, eggs or fish. No fried food, no alcohol, no dessert, small portions.
- Day two and three after: add rice or grains, more protein, a normal breakfast. Still no sugary drinks.
- Then: keep one thing. Whatever you missed least during the cleanse, usually the sugary drink or the late-night snack, leave it out for good. That single change is worth more than the cleanse itself.
A heavy meal straight after a cleanse (the buffet, the zi char, the celebratory beers) is the most common mistake we see. It undoes the de-bloat in one sitting and often causes stomach discomfort. Treat the first meal back like the last meal before: light, early, plant-heavy.
How often to cleanse
Every four to six weeks is a sensible rhythm for a 1 or 3-day cleanse, often timed after a heavy stretch (CNY, a holiday, a work trip). Weekly is too often; it stops being a reset and starts being a crash diet. In between, a daily green juice in place of a sugary drink does more for you than another cleanse.
Frequently asked questions
What should I eat before a juice cleanse?
For two days: light, plant-heavy meals, no alcohol, no fried food, no sugary drinks, and halve your caffeine. The night before, an early light dinner finished by 8pm.
Can I eat anything during a juice cleanse?
If you need to, yes: raw vegetable sticks, a few raw nuts, or a small plain salad. A cleanse you finish with a handful of carrot sticks is better than one you quit.
Can I drink coffee on a juice cleanse?
Ideally no; caffeine is one of the things you are resetting. If a headache is going to make you quit, a small black coffee or green tea in the morning is the lesser evil.
How much weight will I lose?
Typically 1 to 2.5kg on the scale over three days, most of it water and reduced bloating, around 0.5kg of it fat. We explain the maths in detox juice and weight loss.
What if I feel unwell?
Mild headache, tiredness and irritability on day one are normal and usually caffeine or sugar withdrawal. Dizziness, fainting, heart palpitations or vomiting are not; stop the cleanse, eat something, and see a doctor if it continues.
Do I need to refrigerate the juices?
Yes, immediately on delivery, and shake before drinking; fresh juice separates. Ours keep four days from pressing because they are never heat-treated or HPP-processed.
Can I do a juice cleanse while working?
Yes, and most people do. Office fridge, reminders, and the 4pm electrolyte juice for the afternoon slump.
How do I know which cleanse to pick?
First cleanse: Skinny 1-day. Training during the cleanse: Active. Want more fruit and energy: Vitality. Only have a working day: Half-Day. Compare them on the juice cleanse page.
